Mental Health Day

so what is going on with our country? crazy presidential race with lots of amnesia, lehman brothers goes out of business, government takes over fannie mae and freddie mac, stock market diving and possibly other huge companies going down or being bought out. it's amazing to watch our country self destruct. who do we blame?

ahh the infamous blame. no one can take the blame themselves... it must be shifted onto someone else. that seems to be the trend at work as well. i am getting frustrated a lot lately and it's for stuff i didn't do. my boss has been away for pretty much all of august. during that time i was the one that headed up the office and took over all the sales. granted august is our slowest month, but i did do a lot of sales, especially with the way our economy has been. but since my boss has come back, he's been sloppy and not really caring about his job. he came back concerned with a mural he plans on painting on the other coast for his friend. he has occupied his time thinking about himself. he was worried about jobs, and up my ass about the ones i was working on, but not enough to take on some himself. granted, i sit in an office and see where money is going to. he had a guy work on graphics for HIS mural, using company time and money. he bartered laser eye surgery for a sculpture for some guys dog. yes, that is correct. when i questioned him about the sculpture he said- it's jobs like these that pay the bills. i rhetorted with the fact that no not this one, this one is giving you eye surgery, not a paid bill. then later that day our landlord came in wondering where the rent was. this was followed by- give me a little more time. oh? really?

this is partially why it is tough. i see where and not where money flows to. it's hard to separate your feelings from it since i have only had one raise in the 3 years of working there and busting my ass. but i still believe you should have your employees back. i had a client, my boss' client, give me attitude and refuse to correspond with me. i do graphics, along with sales, for the company. this means i am the one that prints out all the logos for our clients. this client was freaking out and saying he was "having nightmares" about these logos not being done correctly. since this client is a graphic company, we thought that one way to not have the client freak out would be for them to create the logos so he knows that they were done correctly. i also told him that i did have the logos but he could resend them to me to make sure they were correct. he spazzed out and thought i was making fun of him. he than proceeded to send an email to my coworker saying that he will not talk to me anymore. can we say drama queen?. anyways when we were talking about it later, my boss said that of course this guy would think that and took his side.

so today i am doing the many JOBS that my boss isn't doing and i start to print out the logos. the colors on them are light and won't show up well. He asks me whether i punched up the color, which would alter the colors and sometimes change the color. Now of course, I am already paranoid about this exact job, so I don't want to alter anything and I obviously am unable to contact him. So I tell my boss my concerns and say that since i am unable to contact him, he would have to. i also said something about not wanting to get yelled at for doing something that this client doesn't want. My boss then has the nerve to tell me that we are all playing for the same team and it's not an us vs them thing. My mouth almost hit the floor and I wanted to say something back in regards to this, but with last weeks tattle tale incident and the email saying he didn't want to work with me on Friday, I figured it was time to shut my mouth and not say a word. He then left and I was so mad. I wanted to scream. My coworker saw how upset i was and came over to give me a hug. he knows my frustrations, since he is one of the few that sees things the same way I do.

So needless to say, I think tomorrow is going to be a mental health day. I need to not be in that office. I know my fuse is very short right now and it is still very hot. I also know that if I don't show up, maybe this will make him actually have to do work. He will have to pick up for all the work that I have been doing for the past few days. And if he tries to contact me, fuck that. I am not being paid to answer your questions. figure it out, just like I do every day there. It's your company, right? Now act like it.

My take on this crisis our country is going through is on the geeky nunber crunchers who decided to entice banks and lenders to finance less than stellar borrowers. It seems they would encouragew banks to lend to anyone without the respsponsibility of of having to eat any of the defaults. so what they did was packaged these high risk loans and sold them to investors in blocks. They thought that since the Housing market has never really gone down in it;s existence it was a win win situation. But, the housing market bubble burst and all of these marginal loans weren't going to be paid back. so trillions and trillions of dollars had to fall into the hands of the investors. These properties have lost more than 30% of their value and nobody will buy them because speculation tells us that prices will fall some more. Now, these towns where defaulted loans have ruined communities, are being abandoned and stripped of copper and anything of value, leaving those who have made their payments live in communities where their homes' values have fallen considerably. So Fannie and Frddie and Lehman, and others are really feeling the pinch because they were gobbling up these blocks of loan investments. It's one scam after another. remember Enron ripping off California, drug companies, gasoline and oil, and now the housing market. What's next, some say are food suppliers will try to reach into our pockets as far as they can.
It just makes me want to puke.

you are right... they have. Look at the price of rice and the issues with using corn as a fuel. So they are starting to get people. It's amazing how the country has become me me me. I still don't get why middle america votes Republican when Republicans don't do anything for them....
