That's just Disgusting

As I was heading home, i noticed a woman was carrying a paper bag that had handles. the bag was from McDonald's. i thought to myself, that bag could hold a ton of food from McD's. so i turn to my friend next to me and point out to him the bag. i said- that is disgusting. the mere thought of someone buying that much food from McD's is frightening. he laughed and agreed. sad to see that is what our country can provide.

on a same note, i was at dinner at our local Vietnamese restaurant and the owners son comes up to us and says- hey! haven't seen you for a while. can you tell i go there often? anyways he told us that he just came back from Vietnam and Singapore. he had to be there for work. he then told us how the first thing he did when he came back was get McD's. we were horrified. how could one say that, especially being over there! i mean i understand if he was in Russia, cause i was craving spicy food when i got back.... but you are coming from a country with the tastiest food! hell, i want to go there just to eat. my friend and her husband are going in november and i am so jealous. the idea that anyone could crave McD's and need it makes my stomach churn.

Yeah but for you Vietnamese food is what you eat out not what you grew up eating.

I grew up eating caribbean food and folks are like "oh my god you're so lucky!"
But me and friends were like lucky? to eat rice and beans every single day? We'd rather have a burger and when we did it was sooooo awesome.
It was a treat!

So yes fast food is awful, but until good healthy food becomes more accessible to everyone and less expensive folks will continue to eat McD's.

im sorry do I sound crabby? I just felt bad for the lady with the McDs.

oh don't get me wrong... i totally agree.... it's just that the thought of fast food being sold in SHOPPING bags is what made my stomach churn...

It's the fact that McD's feeds on the poor and places them where the poor live, so they can't make good choices. I do love that NYC is making fast food restaurants put the amount of calories on their menus... I should write a post about that... A freaking DD muffin had over 600 calories!
