What a Night

It was packed. It was packed and active. I saw lots of people and had great responses to the work. i had some friends come from the radio station, so that was great to have that support as well. I know noone will come from my work, so having someone show from my other not real job makes me feel good.

My Tae Kwon Do teacher came with another guy from our school. The other guy, James, has seen my work before, but not these pieces. My teacher hadn't. His reaction was amazing. He was stunned by my work. He didn't expect that from me. He thought I would have these huge metal structures, not small intimate work. He was literally choked up. I saw him... he really was. That was a truly great moment for me because he has known me for over four years and knows me well enough and all my quirks. So for him to have that reaction was really special to me.

I also had another great meeting. I turned around and saw a waitress at a local bar i go to, about two doors down from where we were at. She is always my waitress and sees me enough at the place. We greeted each other and i asked what are you doing here?! She point to the art work next to mine and tells me that is hers. We both start to laugh saying wow, how funny we are placed next to each other. We started talking about the art scene in the area and what we are planning. The funny thing is we both are planning the same ideas. She has done research on her end of opening a very similar thing that i was interested in doing. We got to talking and said that we should sit down together and see where this could take us. I am very excited by this possibility. I just have been so busy lately to do any more research into it, so I am glad she was interested in talking more about it.

So granted, my work didn't sell, or at least nothing that night. But i got more than money from that opening. I got to be apart of the art community in many ways and that means more to me than anything else. I also got inspired to do more work. So hopefully when i get back from this weekend, I will have some time to work on stuff. I will be off to Dallas Texas for a Tae Kwon Do Seminar. I will post pictures and report back. It should be really interesting and fun.

I am so happy for you. I am a little confused. The work that was on display that night wasn't the guitar was it? It couldn't be unless it was a minature one. right? Would you please put the works that you show on your post like you did with the ice block and the bullets? Thanks, I'd love to put them on my blog with your permission. Also, if you could paste a link to the ice block work, I would like to fix my old post because all of my old pictures and comments were deleted when I deleted mhy blog back in August.

Thanks
