My Art

So i found these old pieces of mine.... so i figured i would post. I did these in college. So a long while back. I was playing with the idea that if your life was a book, what would the book be? These are about my parents and myself.



This one is titled "Father Knows Best" It's mixed media. The book is bound together with a metal clasp and a lock. There are a bunch of keys with the lock, but the only key that opens the lock is located with the picture of my Dad as a kid. My dad is a business man, so hence the watch parts and the bits of money.



This one is about me, "Me, Myself and I". This is an art history book with a psychology book inside. I carve out the art history book and attached the other book with wire, binding the one inside the other. This is to represent that i am a smaller book but take on the role of a larger one.



The one about my mother is named, "My Mother the War". She is bound together in leather straps. Like an old school girl. The ceramic doll heads represent the way she views herself of trying to be perfect, yet each head is not. Trying to depict that perfect Donna Reed character.
